Cadets

Wivenhoe Sailing Club has a Cadets section which is open to young people from 10 to 18 years so they can learn to sail and develop their boat handling skills under the tutorship of experienced dinghy sailors.

The club has a number of Topaz dinghies available for the Cadets as well as a Wayfarer and one Yachting World Day boat.

It’s easy to get involved.  Sessions are held on the weekends and weeknight evenings and are supplemented with land-based briefings to provide the basic knowledge needed before taking to the water.

No previous sailing experience is needed but Cadets should be at least 10 years old and able to swim 50 metres.

The club maintains safety boats, to support club racing, cadets and other club activities.  The club’s safety boats accompany the Cadet fleet at all times and no Cadet is allowed to take part without wearing a buoyancy aid and appropriate clothing.

For more information or to volunteer your time please email our cadet section.
