Celebration of the lives of Arnold and Margaret Handley

This coming Sunday afternoon (15 May 1-6pm) is the celebration of the lives of Arnold and Margaret Handley and all they did for the club. Many members remember them fondly and it will be a happy event with refreshments and the bar will be open. They played an important part in the Lifting Group, sailed a small cruiser and were in charge of Viking. All club members are welcome.

Dinghy fitting out session – Saturday 14 May 10am

Intended to help new dinghy owners to test rig and adjust their boats. Also useful for anybody looking to change their rigging including aft to centre main (or vice versa), adding a spinnaker, or anybody just looking to learn to rig a boat.

 

Please be mindful that there are cruiser launches on Saturday, so we will need to leave space and give way to the lifting group.

 

All dinghy sailors and other members are welcome to join us; turn up on the day or for more information contact Dave Souch (thevicecommodorewsc@gmail.com).

 

May Mug 1/Sykes 1 race – Sunday 15 May 10:30am

This is the first race of the May Mug (General Handicap, no WODs) and Sykes Trophy (WODs) series running through May and June. This is the main summer race series at WSC and so draws a good mixed fleet. Race start is 10:30, anyone sailing should plan to be at WSC at least an hour before to rig and launch.

Reminder to dinghy and canoe owners.

Fees for hard standing are now overdue and the surcharge applies. Fees are due for dinghies, canoes and trailers not kept under the dinghy. All trailers should be clearly identified. Forms are available in the Members’ area of the club website.

Sun 5 June 2.30pm: May Mug/Sykes3/Bostock Cup

Sat 4-Sun 5 June: Alresford Creek Boat Owners event to Tollesbury.

Sat 11 June: 2.30pm: Celebration of the life of Ian James Hunter at St Mary’s Church and then at WSC Clubhouse.
